Blancpain made a splash at the 2015 edition of Baselworld by unveiling a contemporary and even futuristic variation of its famous tourbillon carrousel model. The new L-Evolution Tourbillon Carrousel integrates the two complications designed to increase the accuracy of a movement.

This brand is the only one who daring enough to marry these two mechanisms. But until now, it was only available in very classic, traditional versions. The L-Evolution breaks the rules even with the shape of the case! Indeed, the movement was first skeletonized in an unusual and very edgy way. This makes it look more like a fractal spiderweb than any other watch on the market. The movement components were embellished with a frosted dark grey finished.

In addition, and to out them in the spotlight, the cages of both the tourbillon and the carrousel were elevated a few milimeters so that they look like they come right out of the movement. The sides of the case were softened to create appropriate resonance with the design of the caliber and the hands. As an UWO – “Unknown Watch Object” – the L-Evolution Tourbillon Carrousel was disruptive. But having a deeper and closer look at it allows it to become a singular aesthetic pleasure. Only 50 pieces will be available of this very complicated timekeeper, which is housed in platinum.
