After seven years of development, Vacheron Constantin has introduced a new ultra-thin movement focused on reducing thickness without compromising performance. The calibre reflects careful engineering choices to maintain reliability, precision, and structural integrity in a highly compact form. This release highlights the technical challenges of miniaturization in watchmaking, offering a balanced approach between slim design and functional durability while staying consistent with the brand’s longstanding expertise in mechanical movements. This movement's first appearance is encased in a totally new Overseas timepiece of smaller size.
We knew that the Godfather timepiece was one of Jacob Arabo’s favorite for many personal reasons, but this one came in a rather large round case. After three years of development, the brand just introduced the second chapter and this time coming in a rectangular shaped case, but most notably is the fact that you now have two melodies to play with. Featuring a flying tourbillon and offering 72 hours of power reserve, the Godfather II is limited to 74 pieces coming in 42 by 44mm rose gold case.
We explore in this video how this came into being, what Niton represented at the time and how they combined this heritage with a clear contemporary interpretation of this jumping hour timepiece, which also marks the passage of the hour with a distinct chime.
