WARO 2026 or What's ticking in Bucharest

Who said you have to go to Geneva to have a good talk about watches?

This time, I packed my camera and headed to Bucharest to discover WARO — Watching Romania, a gathering bringing independent watchmaking and the people behind it into the spotlight.

From a self-taught watchmaker crafting his own timepieces in his garden workshop to an artistic newcomer launching his first brand, Romania’s first watchmaking school and the country’s very first watch fair, there’s a lot more ticking in Bucharest than you might expect!

We meet the people making it happen, discover some unexpected horological gems, and join thousands of enthusiasts celebrating their shared passion for mechanical watchmaking.

Add a yellow submarine, plenty of great food and a few kilometres on the road, and you have quite an adventure!

And, of course, to talk watches — because apparently, I can’t help myself!

So let's discover another exciting stop on the ever-expanding map of watchmaking.
