What it takes to build a MUSEUM
As some of you know, I was behind the creation of the Horopedia Foundation, chaired by Philippe Dufour, and our initial goal was to produce an online encyclopedia with the mission of documenting watchmaking crafts and competencies.
But as if this wasn’t enough, last year I decided to work on expanding the role of the Foundation with the embodiment of the encyclopeadia and simply put, to create a museum! We want people, and especially kids, to understand what is behind a watch, why it works, what are the different jobs involved, how time measurement has influenced the development of our societies.
This will be achieved with the exhibition of incredible timepieces, some of them coming from the reserve of the Geneva state history museum, and others from other provenance and we will showcase this through an interactive journey, whether through physical demonstrators or digital screens.
The program is vast, it’s ambitious, but necessary and has taken a lot of my time to put together, to motivate people and authorities without mentioning finding solutions to finance such a project. And this is the main reason why you have seen me a bit less on screen lately as there are just so many things to take care with an endeavour of this type.
But the good news is that we now have Lara Poppy that will help us with some of the video reports and who you will see more often on Watches TV. She’s a great person, knows the industry and shares our unlimited enthusiasm for watchmaking, so I am really convinced she will do a great job assisting our journey.
